Costing and rate review model.
£9,999 placeholder
What a package, a shift and an hour actually cost you, and the evidence base for an uplift case a commissioner can act on. Everything we would use ourselves, without us attached.
What it is for
Most providers know their annual figures and cannot tell you what one hour of care costs them. Every rate conversation turns on the second number.
The gap between the two is where money is lost quietly. Travel between calls, handover, training, supervision, cover for absence, the hours nobody bills for and the ones nobody planned for — each is small and none of them appear as a line anybody looks at. Added up, they are frequently the difference between a package that contributes and one that costs you to deliver.
The model builds the number from the bottom: what an hour of delivered care actually consumes, then a shift, then a package. Once that exists you can see which work is worth having, which is being subsidised by the rest, and by how much.
The second half is the uplift case. A commissioner cannot act on a request for more money. They can act on a costed position, set out in a form they can take to somebody else, showing what the current rate does and does not cover.

Who it is for
And who it is not for.
Providers going into a rate review
Where the conversation is coming up and the alternative is arguing from a feeling that the rate is too low, which does not move anybody.
Services that are busy and not profitable
Full, well regarded, working hard, and the money is not there. The answer is almost always in the per-hour position rather than in volume.
Not a negotiation service
The model builds your case. It does not conduct the conversation, and it does not know what your commissioner will accept.
What it does not do
Worth saying plainly, because most people buying a model are hoping otherwise.
It does not contain rates. No figures come with it. Wages, on-costs, travel, mileage and overheads are yours, and any model that arrived pre-filled with somebody else's numbers would be actively misleading.
It does not win the uplift. It gives you a defensible case. Whether a commissioner can fund it is a separate matter, and sometimes the honest answer is that they cannot.
It does not price your competitors. What others charge is not evidence of what your service costs, and it is not the argument that works.
It is not financial or legal advice. It is a management tool. Contract terms, procurement rules and anything turning on a specific agreement need proper advice.
Be prepared for the model to tell you that some of your work is not worth doing. That is a genuinely difficult conclusion when it involves people you have supported for years, and it is not a decision the spreadsheet gets to make. But you should be making it knowingly rather than discovering it in the accounts.

If you want to know what is in it in detail, or whether it is the right thing for your situation, ask us. We would rather tell you it is not what you need than sell you the wrong document.
Ask which one you need. It is a much shorter conversation.
Thirty minutes, no charge, no obligation. Tell us what the rate conversation looks like and we will tell you whether this helps or whether something else would.
