When a Registered Manager leaves, the clock starts. The regulator expects to be told, commissioners notice, and a prolonged vacancy is read as a governance failure whatever the reason for it. Meanwhile the nominated individual is covering a job they were not appointed to do.
Job boards do not solve this, because the people who can do the job are almost never looking at job boards. They are in post somewhere, quietly open to the right move, and they will not put their name on a public database while their current employer can see it.
So we do it the slow way. We know these managers, we talk to them, and when a provider describes a service we can picture the two or three people it would suit. Nobody's details move until they have said yes.
