Audit and governance toolkit.
£9,999 placeholder
Audits designed to find something, a governance cycle that closes, and the evidence trail that makes well-led defensible. Everything we would use ourselves, without us attached.
What it is for
Most audits are designed, without anybody intending it, to pass. They sample the good records, they are completed by the person responsible for the thing being audited, and they produce a score.
An audit that finds nothing month after month is not evidence that the service is fine. It is evidence that the audit does not work, and that is how it reads to somebody assessing your governance. A folder of green audits alongside a real problem is worse than no audits at all, because it shows the system was running and did not see it.
The toolkit is built the other way round. The audits are designed to go looking in the places where things actually go wrong, with sampling that is not chosen by the person being examined. When something is found, it goes into a cycle that closes: action, owner, date, re-check, and evidence that the re-check happened.
That closing loop is the part that makes well-led defensible. Finding problems is not the risk. Finding them and being unable to show what you did about them is.
What would an inspection find?
Run the check first. It will tell you whether governance is the gap, or whether something else is.
Who it is for
And who it is not for.
Services with audits that never find anything
If every audit comes back clear, this is the most useful thing on the page. Something is being missed, and it is better that you find it than somebody else does.
Providers with more than one service
Where the difficulty is knowing what is happening in a building you are not standing in, and needing the same questions asked the same way in each one.
Not a substitute for a manager
A governance system does not run itself. If nobody has the time to do the audits and act on them, buying better audits will not change the outcome.
What it does not do
Worth saying plainly, because most people buying a toolkit are hoping otherwise.
It does not audit your service. It gives you the questions, the sampling approach and the cycle. Somebody at your end has to do it honestly, which is the whole difficulty.
It does not fix what it finds. A good audit produces a list of uncomfortable things. Acting on them is the work, and it is usually the part that gets deferred.
It does not create a history. Governance evidence is cumulative. A toolkit adopted this month cannot show twelve months of closed actions, and nothing can.
It is not a substitute for advice on a specific problem. If an audit turns up something serious, that is a conversation the same day, not a form.
Start it before you need it. The value of a governance cycle is almost entirely in the trail it leaves behind, and that trail can only be built forwards. The worst time to adopt one is the week an inspection is announced, because that is exactly what it will look like.

If you want to know what is in it in detail, or whether it is the right thing for your situation, ask us. We would rather tell you it is not what you need than sell you the wrong document.
Ask which one you need. It is a much shorter conversation.
Thirty minutes, no charge, no obligation. Tell us what your audits currently find and we will tell you whether this helps or whether something else would.
